Synopsis:This production of Shakespeare’s bittersweet comedy will be set at the end of World War 1, and against the backdrop of the Suffragette Movement. It explores themes of love, and the many ways men and women can misunderstand each other.

The story follows two pairs of lovers; Beatrice and Benedick, who insist they are uninterested in love but are tricked into confessing their affection for each other. Hero and Claudio are a young, idealistic couple whose love is tested when Claudio is deceived into believing Hero has been unfaithful.

The play is driven by a mix of lighthearted schemes, such as friends conspiring to bring Beatrice and Benedick together, and much darker plots, like the villainous Don John’s attempt to ruin Hero and Claudio’s relationship.
